It’s been a busy day today with people quitting bands and here’s another sadness for you. Brian Tichy has announced that he’s leaving Whitesnake in order to focus on Something Unto Nothing (S.U.N.), the band he started with Sass Jordan. Bassist and singer Michael Devin, also affilated with S.U.N., will remain with Whitesnake.
Said Whitesnake mainman David Coverdale: “We are truly sad to see [Brian] go, but, we fully support the pursuit of his ambitions and sincerely wish him well. His fearless drumming brought a relentless driving edge and to our music that we fully embraced. Good luck, Brian… May the S.U.N.shine brightly on you!!”
Whitesnake has begun the search for a new drummer. There are several musicians already being considered.
A spokesman for the band said that this will not affect the forthcoming tour dates for 2013.
Brian Tichy, drummer and songwriter and known for his gigs with Billy Idol, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne and most currently, Whitesnake, broke his collarbone this past weekend in a mountain biking accident. Due to the accident, he won’t be able to play tonight’s The Moby Dicks – All-Star Tribute To Led Zeppelin concert at Vamp’d in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be temporarily replaced by Quiet Riot’s Frankie Banali.
Tichy is one of the organizers of the Bonzo Bash NAMM Jamm 2013, which will take over Anaheim, California on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Observatory. If you’re not able to attend that show then you have another opportunity to see him opening night of the NAMM show.
Something Unto Nothing, featuring Sass Jordan and drummer Brian Tichy of Whitesnake and Ozzy Osbourne, had a gig on November 16th in Las Vegas, NV and was joined onstage by Jake E. Lee previously of Badlands and Ozzy Osbourne. Â The band covered a Led Zepplelin track “Rock And Roll” and you can check out that performance below.
Sass Jordon recently recorded vocals for the song, “Redeem Me,” which will appear on Jake E. Lee’s upcoming solo album.

Metal guitar legend “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott’s influence on the music community can never be fully estimated, but if the collection of artists and players at this year’s DimeBash 2011 is any indication, his legacy is as far-reaching and deeper than ever before. On December 14th, the world of hard rock and metal come together in a communion of thunderous songs and stories to tip its collective glass to one of the true masters of not only guitar, but music as a whole. “Today marks the 7th year, which still doesn’t seem like a reality to me”, states Rita Haney, longtime girlfriend of Dime and the person who knew him best. Â ”Sometimes I think, “Boy this sure is a long ass tour”, but then I focus back in and realize what I’m working on at this moment and I just have to smile and be thankful for all the amazing people that surround me – thanks to him. Â I hope everyone enjoys this event as much as we like bringing it to them. Â It’s nothing more, nothing less, than “About a damn good time!” – one of my favorite Dime pastimes and phrases. There are no words to express my thanks to all the artists who make this event special and give “us fans” a night to remember two truly amazing people and the music they created! I am forever at your beckon call, so c’mon out and experience the evening with us. It’s going to be quite magical!!!”
