Last Friday lostannie was sick, and I had major computer problems, but the people in chat stuck with me as I barely made it through these 10 releases.

Thunderstorm - "As We Die Alone" is the title of the fourth album of the Italian band Thunderstorm. Heavy influences of Black Sabbath and Candlemass can be heard on this CD. The atmosphere on ‘As We Die Alone’ is sad, just like a doom album is supposed to be. From mid tempo to slow tempo, this is your prototype headbangers album. The vocals are quite melancholic and the rhythm section is best described as a smooth velvet carpet of bass and drums, so all required doom elements are present. The riffs and dark atmosphere are similar to the music of Candlemass, however the sad vocals are not quite comparable with the powerful voice of Messiah Marcolin (Candlemass) but they do fit in with the music. Dante Fox - For all melodic rock fans, Dante Fox is back, after a hibernation period of almost nine years they have been able to make a third album. 'Under The Seven Skies' is the bands third and best album to date. Released: Mar 29


Susperia - Susperia's thrash metal has received quite different judgements in the past. The thrash metal is quite heavy but it never gets brutal, there are no eruptions of anger, no emotionally loaded harmonies. Nothing at all. The music, however, does contain some nice ideas and good riffs. Released: Apr 2


Dominici - Now Charlie Dominici has returned with a young band of intense shredders ready to give the progressive power world the exciting adrenaline injection it has needed for years. Vital Remains - Making music since 1989 Vital Remains is about as death metal as an American band gets. In terms of the music, lyrics and album covers. They will use every opportunity to show their aversion against religion. Glenn "Deicide" Benton is the singer on this album. This album doesn't quite live up to "Dechristianize", but its definatly a good runner up. Released: Apr 3


Accid Reign - Hopeful newcomers from the Gothic range are ACCID REIGN from Hamburg, Germany. There debut album “Awaken” offers music that is quite impressive to this genre. Released: Apr 25


Freedom Call - "Dimensions" is a "successful liaison of the group's basic strengths and new, contemporary influences." Or, as drummer Daniel Zimmermann puts it, "Even if the two predecessors, 'Eternity' and 'The Circle Of Life', took very different directions, both albums had a number of strong moments. 'Dimensions' combines the most successful elements from both albums, in other words: we included our penchant for fast and very melodic numbers from 'Eternity' with the more contemporary, bombastic components of 'The Circle Of Life'." Joe Lynn Turner - Many of you should recognize the name Joe Lynn Turner from his work with RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, BRAZEN ABBOT and his project with Glenn Hughes, HUGH TURNER PROJECT. "Second Hand Life" is Joe's latest album, his voice is of course awesome, the songs are cool and seem pretty tight with strong compositions. The sound is sorta commercial melodic Hard Rock and will remind you of his days in Rainbow. "Second Hand Life" is an album that is characterized by the great guitar work of Karl Cochran and the strong rhythm section that Cartellone and Held create. Released: Apr 23
