Listen here conehead your music taste is more scary than mine so...........

Go here http://www.braingell.com/djtools DL and follow all the instructions, only difference is its 64k mono and at 44.1.

Let me know when your set up and ready, also with mic you can test it before you DJ just look at the levels when you click talk on shoutcast.

Once you done all the above I give you a spin on the test feed.

(I listened to a few they bug and bug me then say they ready and it works, once on test feed its all over the place distorting and mic dont work.
So they clearly didnt pay attention to instructions, Oh I wont help with anyone who has sam)

If you want to go extreme you could get a sound stage mic as you put it and also get a small mixing desk.

I just use a GOOD head set with some noise reduction foam over mic.**(vB is going to tell you YOU CAN'T USE A HEADSET MIC!)** I stick to shoutcast, its tried and tested and works damn well, you may get people saying they use SAM but personally Ive played with it and think its sucks and really just a gimmick.

Also a cpu thats 1 Ghrz or better, in old days a p500 could do it but they was p chips, I have this personal belief that any celeron and in some cases a centrino sucks ass and could skip when streaming.

When you have other things open, ie sites where page refreshes anti virus running at same time when djing etc etc then a skip will happen and also on p2p programs.

All I use is a p4 2.8 sony laptop with a headset and a packet of cigs

But they my views maybe VB or Bill or even Wasted Zombie could share light on subject of min hardware reqiured.

I also say this "be warned" dont listen to anyone even if they a moderator in chatroom and talk like they know it all, BGR has a lot of IT gurus who think they know everything and have built their own deep blue in their bedrooms

Well... Hobs, eventually you got to believe something! hehe!

As for system, yeah, I think Hobs has it right... you really need a 1 GHz system to pull it off, and then skippage may happen... lostannie is using a 1.5 GHz, a third party sound driver, and with the chat open, the website open, explorer open... she is fine... and of course WinAmp with Shoutcast going... but if she does much more... skips can be sometimes heard.

lostannie and I opted for Shure PG-57 mics... she has a desktop boom stand, I have a floor Boom. Trust us! You don't want to try juggling it in your hands.

You can get some really good USB headsets now, that deliever suprisingly great quality. Might be something to look into. .**(vB is going to tell you YOU CAN'T USE A HEADSET MIC!)**

As for jacks, you can buy a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter at most any music store, or RadioShack/equivilant. This will allow you to plug the mic with its nig plug into the adapter then plug the adapter into the small port on your computer/sound card.

Hope I was able to help out some...

Anyway you could have the fasted chip in the world, have open any p2p program or bit torrent even itunes and skips will happen and your skip like a fairy all the way to skipage land.

Its not just about cpu but motherboards and also data flow in and out of comp and dsl/cable modem.

Best excuse to date for skipage is "Its to cold for my connection"

But thats kids for ya!

As I found out the hard way, keep an eye open for annoyances like simple spikes in the line caused by possible program updates or the dreaded spyware.

As for mics... I'd choose my Shure SM58 over anything else in the world.
System wise, simple Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS, AMD 2.4Ghz dual core Athalon and 3GB of RAM keep things ticking over nicely.

I do find winamp to be about as stable as me though so bare that in mind.

Oh and the final note, do not use a fucking wireless keyboard and mouse especially if they're made by microshaft. Bastard things mess up when you really don't want them to
