last nite my wife told me she saw a sign on the fair lakes Best Buy that stated that they were selling musical instruments... i decided to go and check out what was going on today... well, much to my dismay they actually have a music store built in their store now. real gear. not knockoff crap... i asked the dude that was working there what was goin on. he said this is the 1st store (of many) on the east coast that has added a music store...
all i can say about this is...
i am officially the first person on what i hope will be a looooong list of people who will never shop there for musical shit... i am actually quite pissed about this because if they are successful, we can kiss all of our local music shops and guitar centers goodbye... music stores are a specialty. they require employees to know about the gear they sell. at best buy, this wont be the case. music stores also insist on quality. if best buy becomes the norm, give it a few years and finding good equipment is gonna be tough to do as well...
so please, no matter how much you need that string, drum head, or cable...dont buy it at best buy. drive farther and pay your local guy a few cents more... because when you need professional advice sometime in the future, your local guy might not be around anymore because of this.
feel free to send this around to all of the musicians you know...
I will NOT support Best Buy for any musical equipment!! They will become the Walmart of music stores if we do!! OMG horrifying! Thanks for the heads-up b!~
