The following is a post from another internet station had on MySpace.
"I really can't go into many details at the current moment, and we are working up an official statement to be posted on darktechradio.com about what's happening, but in short....
THE RIAA HAS SHUT US DOWN
I received a cease and desist letter yesterday outlining infractions made by our humble internet-only radio station, as well as steps that will be taken legally against myself and my company if our operations aren't ceased immediately.
Please bear with us as we consult with our legal advisors and explore options to continue operations. Also, keep in mind that the state of internet radio in general is in great danger and despair, and we are NOT the only ones affected by this gross abuse of power by those with wallets the size of gargantuan whales, and by that I do mean the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Until further notice, we are forced to take all active broadcasting servers offline.
We sincerely apologize to everyone - we didn't start this radio station to make money, to undercut anyone, to steal from anybody, and we certainly did not start this radio station to be threatened by big corporate bullies who can get away with pushing around the little people who don't even have a budget, who sit at their desks day in and day out nitpicking at every detail on the radio station and working endlessly because it's a labor of love just to get shoved in the mud and give up.
We will keep everyone posted as to what happens in the near future."
Sincerely, Shane Kelly Program Director Darktech Radio

Guess they decided that their attempt to get more money from internet radio stations might not work..

Darktech hasn't come out with an official statement yet....I'm thinking it's a licensing issue though.

I think its more of a money issue... since all payments due for licensing fees are retro-active back to January 1st, 2006. Damn money! It ruins everything!

The retroactive thing hasn't gone into effect yet....I'm sure there's going to be a challenge about this as well since SoundExchange already had agreements in place during '06.
