i live in virginia and just switched from comcast to verizon... technically speaking almost ANYONE can get another service if they want it badly enough... DirecWay satellite internet from Hughes Network Systems can operate in almost any situation. its more expensive and requires equipment, but it IS an option. i have actually had it twice and it worked fine.
btw... HNS is the DirecTV people...
