I must be on a roll today, because everything is just flowing through this nasty little brain tonight. My target this time is Gene Simmons of Kiss. Yea the merchandise pushing whore of Rock N Roll.
I decided to go to VH1 Classics Fuse and some other music channels that my Satellite dish gets, thinking I would TIVO some documentaries and concerts, for future use for this column. But shit when I started scrolling, I started getting really pissed off.
It’s bad enough that we are privy to having the most boring Rock family show up on our TV screens every season. In fact my house has way more excitement than that. In fact I think I curse more in 5 minutes then they ever cursed in all episodes combined. Now they are taking over VH1 Classics. What the fuck is up with that?
As I started to scroll, I saw a documentary, than a concert from the 70’s; I thought ok, that’s cool. As I continued my scrolling, hours turned into days. I was starting to get super pissed. I know there are KISS fans, but damn, not everyone bows to the KISS god’s especially after seeing Gene Simmons whorish ways the last several years. He would do any low down, slutty thing to make a dime. In my opinion, he has taken a great band and tarnished them. I know the rest of the band has profited as well, but do they not think they have made fools of they’re damn selves and well kindly put made themselves look like Genes idiot puppet parade? Well if they have not thought of this, which maybe they should, KISS BAND MEMBERS; YOU ARE ALL GENES PUPEPT SLUTS.
Ok, now back to my scrolling, I believe this entire KISS fest it went on until I think at least Wednesday. I know there is a hell of a lot of information, concerts, documentaries, etc on KISS. Because lets admit it, they are as old as some of our grandparents, but give me a fucking break, days upon days of KISS? I do not think so, I think they could have broken it up a bit, and added some other great bands of the same time period.
If they would have added some Queen, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Late Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, The Doobie Brothers, Eric Clapton, ET All, it would have been much more entertaining, rather then shoving Mr. Music Whore down our throats for days on end. In fact, I think I will call Gene Simmons Mr. Music Whore for now on. I remember liking a few songs that Kiss put out, but I was like 8, and Genes tongue frankly scared the shit out of me! So I would run away when my much older cousins would chase me around their house with their Gene Simmons memorabilia…. I have been scared of big ass tongues ever since.
When I did see the KISSFEST on VH1, I had wondered for a few moments I wondered if he had bribed VH1, or purchased it from Viacom its present owner, or paid someone a few million dollars to run all those shows for all those days. I ask you all, do we really need 3 or 4 days of a KISSATHON when there is so much more to watch that is cooler, more current, and way less underplayed, under saturated, and not so over rated.

Nice article. I pretty much agree about Gene. However, I do respect him in that he admits to it and makes no bones about the fact that he is all about making the dollar. And to be honest, why blame him? He is an aging rock star who doesn't have any musical ability left. Why not milk his former place in rock for all it's worth. If the others in the band weren't also making a buck from Gene's prowess, they might complain about it...but they are and that's why they don't.
Besides, anyone who came up in the '70;s who says that they weren't influenced by KISS is a liar. They were it for thier time...raw and in your face, despite any kind of real talent. But isn't that what rock and roll started as?

Damage Case, You have a point, Like I said, I did like a few songs.. But My ass hole cousins, scared the wimpy Chris I was as a 7 or 8 yr old with fucking dog ugly My house, is more exciting then his, My kid alone could have her own show, and be more entertaining. I just think hes so well finished for the moment. he had his time in the 70's.. he has his die hard fans, cool.. he had 15 more minutes... But I think I just heard the timer go off. DING

Yep Gene's a whore. But he's all about the almighty dollar, and if everyone is honest, so are alot of us!! As far as his TV show goes, I think it is very entertaining! Ya gotta admit that looking at Shannon Tweed is the BEST part of it all! His kids turned out fairly well-adjusted, and of course any show with tasty eye candy is fun to watch!!
I am a KISS fan from 1975 and off and on since. I never agreed whole heartedly with any of them about anything, and am glad they're still around in whatever realm that they are. Like Ozzy, Gene is NOT going away...where there's money to be made, you can bet he'll be there!! I have to admit, I think it's mildly entertaining that he is so greedy, but we all know what happens to greedy fuckers eventually...or do we? heh, anyway thanks fer the article!
