February 20, 2008 Oklahoma City, OK Big Papa's Pour House saw the first show ever for Psychostick in Oklahoma City! And I was there...
After a cancellation due to bad weather in December 2007, Psychostick triumphantly appears at another local club for their first show ever in OKC. Playing a Tulsa show the night before was their first appearance in Oklahoma.
The show opened with a local band called Stout's Last Stand, which I didn't see much of, because I am often chronically late, heh. But they were a decent and appropriate band for the show.
Stout’s Last Stand was followed by a band that is near and dear to my heart, Final Riot, my oldest son's band, who are making a name for themselves here on Braingell and around Oklahoma City as well!
They of course, played an awesome set (biased opinion noted) after some early technical difficulty with the bass, but nonetheless they rocked the house! Playing favorites such as "United We Fall" and "War Is Your Religion" amongst others yet to be released on their upcoming EP.
Before Final Riot's appearance, I was able to talk with the members of Psychostick and share with them the fact that they are loved here on Braingell Radio! They seemed to be quite pleased with this knowledge and were most gracious.
Beer is good… and stuff! This is partially why I may not nail down their complete set list! But these are some of the songs that they did play:
ABCDeath
The World's Shortest Song (which is awesome!)
Two Ton Paperweight
Scrotal Torment
Shower (Which prompted them to share "party favors" with the audience! Shower poofs!!)
In A Band To Get Chicks
I Hate Doing Laundry
"Orgasm"=Love
Pluh
The Jagermeister Love Song and of course the ever popular "BEER!!!" which seemed to be the two songs that most people knew the lyrics to.
For their encore, they graced us with The Hokey Fuckin’ Pokey! Another song that most people seemed to know the lyrics to and the accompanying dance as well, hehe!
All in all, a very fun and entertaining evening with the Stick! I HIGHLY recommend that you go see them live!
They told me that they would return to Oklahoma City in May 2008, so I am looking forward to their return with great enthusiasm and "shininess"!
