KISS? They made music? I thought they we're just a gimicy glam rock band that was all about the merchandise and couldn't hold their own musically... who the fuck asks Gene Simmons about music? Thats like askin him how his hair dryer works, or how they made his stilettos..
he made one good point about the gold tho... except it was totally irrelevant, the mtn isn't trying to make money by letting you mine the gold.. he bit his own ass off too, by saying that bands make all the money off record sales... buuuuullllshit, cause then he'd be broke...

Gene also overlooked the fact that the pay your own price method... while probably not raking in the money from a CD sale... that these artist are making very good returns.
Kiss can make tons of money every year just selling their name... after all its their name that sold the last few CDs.
I do miss the original Kiss, before the action figures, lunch boxes, and various other merchandise.
And yes Christi, you did talk about this...

Sorry...but I think he's right. How is a band supposed to make thier money? Concerts?...Concerts only make money for Ticket Master and scalpers. That leaves only merchandise, and good luck with that. The whole downloading thing is ultimately going to stifle up and comers. Ok, go ahead and tear me up, but there are those who do agree.

No, the record companies take most of the money from album sales, Ticketmaster gets their money from the bullshit extra charges when you buy a ticket. My All That Remains ticket cost 17.99 by itself and through ticketmaster it ended up bein $34

I can understand how smalltime bands can have a hard time making a profit due to downloading, but Gene is a greedy prick. I may or may not download his entire discography out of spite.
If a band starts making music for anymore than pleasing some eardrums and retaining artistic integrity, it's just Britney Spears with a bit more testosterone and distortion. They already lose a lot of respect from me.
