Well, have do say I love slipknots past work…but lets be honest, Volume 3 blows this album away…which is kinda sad lol. I agree with a post below that “If I wanted to hear corey sing acoustic I would buy the Stone Sour album”. I agree completely. I listen to Slipknot to have my brain smashed into my windshield why I drive…this album only has a few songs like that.

So all in all, I’m still gonna listen to the self-title and Iowa religiously…but at concerts for the next few years don’t get upset if I sit down for the new stuff…

I have never been so entertained reading comments on a website. It’s like 3rd grade recess and everyone’s fighting over who’s kickball team was better in the game. The new album is beautifully done BY ALL IN THE BAND! Oh so they didn’t give you little kids an album to turn on and destroy your Moms house to, BIG DEAL! I use to love a band a long time ago, I mean love them! Over the years they changed, put out different music than their original stuff and now I just don’t listen to them, but I don’t trash them. If you can’t appreciate the new album, don’t listen to it. But don’t trash 9 guys that have put out great music over the years just because they create something that doesn’t give you a reason to destroy something or get in a fistfight. Maybe Slipknot was making music that they wanted to make! I rather enjoy the new album and I enjoy being a fan of Slipknot’s music because I like it and I like them. It’s that simple!

Most of you are like creaming your jeans over the fact that Corey put a lyric is there that stated “What if God doesn’t care?”…. If you pulled your heads out of your asses you would see that there is no god, it’s a global scam… now onto the album….. disappointed…. now just because I’m going to say that I did not like the album doesn’t mean i don’t like slipknot anymore… I think a lot of us are just saying that Slipknot’s new music isn’t our type of metal…. Had Slipknot had every song on the album sound like Gematria and All Hope is Gone… i would prolly like it…. I’m sorry but I’m a metal head and how can I head bang when Corey Taylor is singing with an acoustic guitar?????? It’s like they stick the metal songs in there to keep the original crowd and bring in the “mainstream-bring a tear to your eye-” to generate new fans…. with all due respect to the Knot…. there are a lot of good bands out there that you can listen to every song on their cd…. i think that is where my money will go… if i wanted to only get a good 4 or 5 songs off of a 15 track album, i would switch my genre of music to rap….. sorry.

Also random though. Alot of the “heavy” songs sound like this wierd speedmetal, or clean guitar riffs which is completely new for me to hear from them just throwing that out there.

You talking about the terry date mix of wait and bleed? I never really knew there was one where he sings. Only heard one version of it and it’s great. I love(d) the “nu” metal aspect of Slipknot. It’s what set them apart from the day to day crappy music out there. I have listened to the entire special edition. I don’t plan on buying it that’s for sure. Gematria is about the only really good song on there IMO.

Let me be more clear with my comments…I’m sure after listening to this I will like many of the songs on the new album, just like I like many of Stone Sour songs…Slipknot made themselves with the hard hitting, screaming and scary masks, remember!?!?! Now you have Corey in a mask singing..I mean watch their live performances and you have all these dark scary themes with this soft singing, that is not slipknot. And now an example of what I mean. When “Wait and Bleed” came out it changed everything. It allowed people to except and grow to love this hard hitting music. When they brought the “Wait and Bleed” softer remix, where Corey sings the versus it was not something everyone cared to listen to over the original. In fact, if everyone is being honest with themselves, they would say it doesn’t even come close to the original where Corey is going off. We all know it!!! Again, I’m sure I’ll like many of the new songs like I like Stone Sour because this new album is no where near as hard as the old stuff, it’s closely related to a Stone Sour album…and I don’t know how that can be denied…if that’s what you like, then great, but Slipknot use to be that band that drew so many loyal fans to themselves and to other metal/hardcore music. I’m sorry if that’s what we grew to love and still want!!! So we have every reason, you see, to knock the new album!

Dogshit? The new album is completely the opposite. This stuff is absolutely brilliant. They didn’t sell out, they evolved as every band should after a period of time. I LOVE Slipknot, but listening to the same style stuff from Slipknot and IOWA started to get boring no matter how awesome the music was. With Vol. 3 they started to evolve and I was in heaven again, they also started to drop the nu metal, which was a very good choice. Now, my love for Slipknot has been refreshed, they have evolved into a world class heavy metal band, that knows how to actually change their style but keep the brutality that they’re all about. Look at Opeth; nine albums of the pure progressive death metal. It gets boring after such a long time. Big ups for Slipknot. This is a classic album.

The new album is DOGSHIT. Blatant rip off of Gojira and even some Soulfly riffs. Terrible. Not to mention the singing. Leave it for other projects! Jesus!

People are all entitled to their opinions but some of these comments about their latest album make me think have u listened to it once and then come here and commented on it, probably listened to it 4 or 5 times now and its a great album, sure towards the end some songs go abit acoustic and mellow but really i cant see why people are offended by this, some people are just too die hard and hang on everything they do and if its not what they expect its deemed as a dissappoint, 4 albums and many years later they are still massive and still going.

I have listened to slipknot since mfkr and always have defended them against my friends who can’t stand them, but how can I defend the album as a whole?? “Gematria(The killing name)” and “All Hope is Gone” are great songs. I thought “Phsychosocial” would be like “Wait and Bleed” or “Left Behind” the one song that is more catchy and rythmic with some singing. But after you listen to the CD you realize outside of these three songs this is not slipknot at all!!! This is a mixture of the knot and stone sour and something else…Let stone sour be stone sour and slipknot be the hard hitting metal that we all have grown to love so so much!! Why do they need to “grow” or “experiment.” WE are a big part of the reason slipknot is, I thought they owed it to their fans (who have their own name = maggots, and own song = “pulse of the maggots). The owed us a SLIPKNOT cd!!! nothing more nothing less…Why doesn’t corey leave that soft stuff for stone sour??? I mean think of how hard and amazing their first big CD was; from 7426100027 to Scissors!! Then everyone anticipated Iowa and it was exactly what we had come to know. A cd we could release all or angers and frustrations in a beautiful mess of music!!! I just listened to the album and i’ve gotta tell you, i so disagree with John Staymos. This is an excellent album. its got the heaviness of Iowa with the experimental sound of Vol. 3. it also isn’t one of those cds you listen to once. you have to listen a few times to get the whole gist of the album. i love it. all you haters can just fuck off. besides, they said that they were going to keep the experimental side like on Vol. 3 so don’t say you were dissapointed.

I heard the new album today. I can’t help but be dissapointed. I’m better off leaving it out of my cd tray. I loved the first 2 cds and enjoyed vol 3 but this is the last straw. They better get ross robinsson back in the studio and get to work on some real music.

I get a kick out of reading all these comments. Getting a wide range from people who claim to listen to black metal, and name drop some more mainstream bands then those that actually make blackmetal, black metal.

Then we have the whole mushroomhead vs slipknot thing. Face the facts mushroomhead did not do as good as slipknot because slipknot was able to change with the flow of mainstream metal where as mushroomhead stuck to the basic roots of nu-metal.

Slipknots last album vol 3. had a heavy influence of the new ever risig popular metalcore feel to it, with heavy half time break patterns and catch two step beats. They still were able to keep some nu-metal sway feel to the songs which is what makes them unique in the mainstream world. There are plenty of unknown bands who do this as well.

All in all i support slipknot, always have this album should be good. Deffinatly an upgrade from Vol 3. Glad to see them keep on rolling.

Psychosocial has a nice chorus, but the ‘psychosocial’ repeat, sounds a bit too repetitive imo.

When I first started reading IRSPLIKNOtFANBOYLOULHEHEH’s comment I was getting kind of pissed, since I love Slipknot. But he has a point. I don’t believe Slipknot is the best band ever, even if they had potential to be it would be too early in the game to make such a claim. I dont think Slipknot are trying to do anything original as far as lyrics go. They are simply writing about the world they live in and the way the world is now, It’s a good source to inspire some pissed off music. I wouldnt say Slipknot have ever written about “Teen angst”. I mean they arent Staind. Maybe just angst in general would be more like it. Either way, this time around it sounds like theyre drawing from other things than personal issues.

People have different taste’s, I think SlipKnoT is a very great band, and I cant wait for the new album, but just because you dont like them (cashpiles and anyone else) doesn’t mean you have to get on here and run your trap about them making the ‘Knot fans feel bad and shit, grow up, and I would like to see you start a band that could make every album go platinum or multiplatinum!!!

Slipknot are a good band. But they ARE a band - people love then, people hate them.
