A number of people, myself included, have noticed that after or shortly following the upgrade to iTunes 7.0.2, their default country was changed for the iTunes Store. The first sign for many folks that something was amiss was the missing TV Shows, Movies, Audiobooks and Music Videos in the sidebar nav. Resolving this little glitch is super easy of course... just scroll down to the bottom of the iTunes Store home page and select the country you actually reside in.I discovered this morning that iTunes thought I lived in France. I've never been to France. I look awful in a beret. I don't even speak French. Although I hear Paris is lovely in the Springtime.
It would be nice to know if this glitch is directly related to iTunes 7.0.2 or if it's the result of other iTunes Store renovations that are being done, but in the end all that really matters is that you can always go home again, and with little effort.
If you've discovered any other oddities after iTunes 7.0.2, let us know!
Update: We've got first hand confirmation now that this hiccup is not specific to iTunes 7.0.2. Users who haven't updated yet are experiencing the same trip 'round the world.

I haven't upgraded from 7.0.1, but this morning when I visited the iTunes Store it landed me in the Switzerland store.

Apparently it thought I was from Switzerland (not USA). Interesting little bug.

I upgraded and wound up in France. Worst part was I didn't realize I was browsing in French until I tried to buy something. Guess high school was good for something. xD

That totally happened to me this morning while I was writing an article about iTunes Latin and Telemundo. I spent like 30 minutes searching for the freaking TV section in iTunes before I realized that it was all in French. Then, some expletives came out of my mouth.
Then, I logged into my account, which promted iTunes to tell me that my account can only be used in the USA. "NO SHIT, ITUNES" I said. Then it redirected me to the USA iTunes and all was good with the world once again.
The end.

As I noted in the comments of the iTMS Latino post, I was also sent to Switzerland this morning, though I hadn't yet upgraded. I upgraded to see if it would fix itself. It didn't, but it was then that I discovered the drop-down list at the bottom of the page. Has that always been there or is this yet another example of my utter cluelessness?

I suddenly had a craving for beer and back bacon while woking last night. Yep, my iTunes Store was set on Canada. The odd thing... this happened BEFORE updating to 7.0.2. So, I updated thinking that the problem would be solved. Nope. But today I've found I'm extremely friendly and rooting for the Maple Leafs. Ahhhhh...nothing quite like stereotyping!

i ended up in the US instead of Canada, which was a big tease because we don't have movies or TV shows on iTunes Canada, so I was all excited about the new content until I tried to buy something and had a rude awakening. I wonder how much longer Canada will have to wait.

So listen, folks ..
Can any of you purchase from those stores? If you can .. somebody should probably try to salvage some kind of access to international purchasing out of this glitch. That would be a really big deal to have, you know? Can anybody perchance hack this anomaly and get that part secured?
