Drinking wine during hard times
Written on Monday, December 1st 2008 at 12:50 pm by alexIn tough economic times, people are spending less on luxuries. But luxuries come down to priorities in the end, and wine should be considered a priority, not a luxury. Not only will wine help you through this bad economy, it can make you some decent money too.
Wine is a fantastic treat for family, friends, visitors or just yourself after a long day at work. Red wine is actually good for your body, so there's no reason not to indulge. And if you're going to keep your house stocked with wine, you should considered buying some good Wine Racks to go with it.
Sure you can store your wine in a basement refrigerator, but who doesn't love a creative wine rack. You get to show off your collection in a creative, fun way. Wine racks some in all shapes and sizes, so you'll want to get one that fits your personality and your budget. One of my personal favorite wine racks is the "wine rack table". It's a coffee table (or wine table) that has bottle holders streaming off the sides begging to hold your precious wine bottles. This is perfect for your living room, everything is neatly bundled in one spot ready for drinking.
Hanging wine racks are another lovely visual. You can hang the rack almost anywhere, but I like mine in the kitchen. There are many hanging designs, but my preference is the single-slot hangers. The wire wraps down and around 6 of your favorite wines, making them easily accessible but very stable at the same time. After all, nobody likes a broken bottle of wine.
Finally, you can get decorative wine racks, most of which hold a single bottle of wine. I have a metal wire cat holder that I can put my favorite bottle of wine in and give everybody at my party a good laugh. It all comes down to personal taste and whats appealing to your eyes. Most wine racks cost between $10 and $100, while the more advanced multi-holders can cost upwards of $1000. So take a look around The Vine Store and buy one for yourself or a wine-loving family member, you won't regret it.

Madonna is the woman of the century
Written on Thursday, November 6th 2008 at 7:14 pm by alexUnless you've been hiding under a rock for the last 25 years, you've probably heard of the world-famous recording artist, Madonna. Her full name is Madonna Louise Ciccone and is currently 50 years old. Hundreds of millions of people have purchased her albums, seen her live in concert, and purchased Madonna Tickets in their lifetime, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down.
But Madonna does a lot more than just make great music. She writes all her own music, produces movies, directs movies, acts in movies, and even has her own clothing line. Oh yeah, she plays guitar too.
Madonna's career really exploded in 1982 when she recorded her debut album called "Madonna", with the smash hit single "Like a Virgin". Since then, nobody has been able to slow her down. Madonna put out her 11th career album earlier this year, called "Hard Candy". She also hit the road on her "Sticky and Sweet tour" earlier this year as well. Can nothing slow this amazing woman down?
If you're only a teenager, you probably remember her at the VMA's when she famously kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera live on stage after their performance. Some people say she did it to get attention, but people who know her know she did it to put on a good show, not to get attention.
No matter what you think of Madonna personally, you have to applaud such an amazing woman who has lived such an amazing life. 11 full albums and 8 world tours, and that's just her music career. Madonna is an inspiration for, not only women, but people all over the world to make the most out of their lives, and life to the fullest.

Barack Obama's grandmother died
Written on Monday, November 3rd 2008 at 3:36 pm by alexBarack Obama and his half-sister, Maya, confirmed today that their Grandmother has passed away after her battle with cancer. This is the same grandmother who Barack Obama went to Hawaii to visit last weekend.
She grew up in Kansas, where Barack Obama was raised. She later moved to Hawaii where she lived out the rest of her life. She was in her late 80s. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
Now that Barack Obama has been elected the 44th president of the United States, something tells me his grandmother was watching down on him for this historic time in our history.

Did Laura Bush kill somebody?
Written on Sunday, September 28th 2008 at 9:08 pm by alex'It was a very tragic accident that deeply affected the families and was very painful for all involved, including the community at large,'said Mrs. Bush's spokesman, Andrew Malcolm. 'To this day, Mrs. Bush remains unable to talk about it.'
She did say in March, when asked at a campaign stop about the crash, ''I know this as an adult, and even more as a parent, it was crushing ... for the family involved and for me as well.''
There had been published accounts of the accident, but city officials had declined to release the records because those involved were under 18. The police report was released Wednesday in response to an open-records request that was submitted to Midland officials in March.
