Strumming a six-string guitar can be a very relaxing exercise but it is not something you can learn to do well overnight. It takes time to practice and perfect your skills. Read/Write Web recently wrote an article listing a number of web 2.0 sites and services for musicians. I recently found one that was not mentioned but is worth mentioning called JustinGuitar.com (no this is not Justin.tv).
JustinGuitar.com is the creation of Justin Sandercoe a London-based guitarist, songwriter, performer, producer and educator. Justin leverages his site and YouTube to give FREE guitar lessons. He has over 100 free guitar lessons and more than 17K YouTube subscribers. Being an artist himself, you find some of his original tracks on his MySpace profile. Justin might want to also check out Your Truman Show because it seems like a perfect fit.
Justin recently held a video competition via YouTube to see who could show him the most innovative use of a guitar. Contestants were asked to can come up with the funniest, most original use of a guitar. The winner will be announced on September 7, 2007 but here are a couple of videos (here and here) that I liked (shown below).

Yea, theres certainly some good lessons there.
I recently started learning guitar, and anothe good one i found was VGuitarLessons (http://www.vguitarlessons.com/).
Theres a free 12 part beginners course, which i personally like because the guy who does them has a great personality for motivating me. Might not be for everyone, but he its one to add to the list :)
(Oh and it says to sign up to get them, but its easy enough just to search for vguitarlessons on youtube to get a hold of them :)

Another great video howto site is http://www.guitarvideotabs.com/
People have upload all of justin's videos, as well as many others from youtube, etc. It's nice having the tab right below the video.

I've seen the youtube videos some time ago and some of them are quite good. He's very active in creating video lessons for free. I would also like to give free lessons which would sometime soon be available on my learn guitar dvd blog. I'd love to get my hands on Guitar Rising though.

The whole fret board of a guitar can be learned immediately even in just an hour. There's an easy memory technique that you can be viewed by downloading guitar video download lessons or perhaps reading some e-books and listening to audio books as well. Once you get the technique of strumming the chords, you can jam along with other music enthusiasts.
