Long time no write! Things have been crazy. Everytime I went to write an article for BGR, we were having problems with the site, low and behold though, I’m back, and I have another article to bore you to death with! Hooray! By the way, the next time one of you sees my boss, you can kick his ass for my lack of activity on BGR lately. I’m sure you’ve all missed me.

In This Article:

-My recent interview with “Sink Atlantis! Sink”
-Upcoming releases for August 1st and 8th
-Unholy is up for grabs in the “Bands to Look Out For”

Sink Atlantis! Sink!: Interview with Eric Isbell

I recently had the chance to do an e-mail interview with lead singer Eric Isbell from “Sink Atlantis! Sink!”. This is an up and coming band that has a lot of potential to it. Not to mention, the band members are greatful to all of their fans out there, new and old. With the attitude that the band shares and the potential, musically that they hold, “Sink Atlantis! Sink!” is shaping up to be a very promising band.

How has the fans and general public that listen to your music reacted, taking into account that you guys are, in fact, so young, and hold so much potential?

They always tell us how good we are for such a young age and wish they had the potential to do the same thing. I always tell them that they can, it just takes practice. We love the public and our fans. We want them to have as much fun as we do.

What made you guys think of the name “Sink Atlantis! Sink!”?

Well, nothing really. We wanted it to do with some kind of history so we thought of Atlantis. The sink parts were just added in, just like the exclamation points.

How did the band come together?

Sammy, Hank, and Eric go to the same school so we talked for a while about starting [a band]. We met Joe at the mall and Sammy played with Matt one day and was like, "This kid is awesome!" to me. So, we snatched him

Where would you like to see “Sink Atlantis! Sink!” in the next few years, and do you see the sound of the band changing at all?

I would like to see us progress as much as possible. A few CD releases, tour a lot, the works. The only change that we'll make is doing an instrumental song or 2.

How long did it take you to produce the new song “Silo and Octavian”?

Not long really. We’re working on 7 more songs at the moment. We lack the vocals on them and a solo or 2.

Where do you guys do your recording?

Our friend Eric Dixson's Studio

What were some of the major influences you guys looked to while creating the songs that you have so far? (These influences can be either musical or otherwise)

All of our favorite bands, Parkway Drive, Between the Buried and me, August Burns Red, etc. One of our main influences was to create great music and just strive to tour.

Describe the process, so far, of the production of your upcoming EP.

We have all the drum tracks, all the guitars except some solos, and were getting the bass tracks then the vocals done. Then we master it then sell it for $7

How has the Tennessee music scene received you throughout your shows?

They've captured us very well. Some people haven’t but that’s ok. We’re good with our fan base right now. I mean we would be happy with more people you know, but right now its fine.

From what I saw on your Myspace profile for the band, Joe, your bassist, just began playing bass upon the creation of the band, how have you seen him progress throughout the duration of the growth of “Sink Atlantis! Sink!”?

He's progressed really well. He knows all the songs perfectly. He can learn anything. Pretty amazing if you ask me.

How would you describe the band’s presence on stage?

Intense. A lot of movement, the only thing we want you to do is have fun at our shows, not be bored!

What’s next on the agenda for “Sink Atlantis! Sink”?

Get this EP done before July 12th. That’s our next [thing] on [the] agenda. Hopefully it will be out!

I'd like to thank Eric for his time for the interview, and I'd also like to thank Roosterpuddin' for steering me in their direction. Appreciate it all of you.

A Band To Look Out For:

Unholy (Syracuse, New York) – Despite my discrepancies about my travels to Syracuse, I must say, wow! This band has a lot of great aspects about them. The vocals from the lead singer often remind me a lot of a cross between the vocals from Killswitch Engage and Unearth. The music behind it is very diverse and often times interesting in the way that it all comes together. It’s definitely worth a listen. I’m not even telling you that you should listen to it if you “Have the chance” get out there and listen to it now, damnit!
