Hey all... I got this email message from the company that makes the DJ software I use. Please post this wherever you can... webpages, blogs, email yer friends WHATEVER! JUST DO IT!
Help Save Internet Radio
All small-to-medium sized internet radio stations have just been
handed a very expensive royalty rate for playing music. The fees are
in excess of revenue being generated by any internet station today.
The Copyright Royalty Board's decision to tax internet radio OVER
what broadcast radio is required to pay threatens to silence thousands
of online radio stations.
It is vital that you voice opposition to these new royalty rates.
Visit savenetradio.org and sign its petition.
There, you will also be able to send an email directly to your Washington
representatives. They must hear YOUR voice, because being contacted only by our
small coalition of artists, webcasters, labels, and listeners is not enough.
If these new royalty rates are signed into law, online radio stands a very good
chance of being run by big corporations - you know what corporate radio sounds like!
This is not a drill. This is real life survival in a world run by the major players.
The only chance to save thousands of independent radio stations is if the public helps,
gets involved, voices its opinion.
Internet radio stations are very willing to pay artists for the music they play.
But, when the payments are double, triple, even quadruple the amount of revenue
those stations earn it's unlikely they will survive to be heard another day.
Go to savenetradio.org. Help keep internet radio as an independent music source.
Sincerely,
Ken Dardis
