Guitarist Lance Lopez Steals Show at Jimi Hendrix Birthday Tribute Concert
LANCE LOPEZ recently released his album “Salvation From Sundown” on MIG Music, he has been gigging around North America in support of the release, and there will be more shows to come. Last week, LANCE took part in a special show at BB King’s in New York City, it was a Jimi Hendrix birthday tribute concert. Having performed at this event before, LANCE was invited to play again this year. With the help of some special guests, LANCE tore the house down and put on what many have regarded as one of the best performances of the evening.
“It was truly an honor to be invited back to perform at the Jimi Hendrix Birthday tribute at BB King’s in New York city this was the 3rd time I have been invited back. Jimi was such an inspiration to me and his guitar playing lives on through mine, because a lot of what I play directly comes from Jimi. Any chance I get to pay homage to Jimi Hendrix I do, he shaped my attitude towards the electric guitar and his music will always inspire me.”
“This year we had some really special guest including Graham Whitford 19 and his brother Harrison Whitford 15 who are both the sons of Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, who both joined me for my version of Jimi’s song “Lover Man”. I also had the pleasure of having Jazz Saxophone great Ronnie Cuber and technical wizard and music visionary Malcolm Cecil on Upright Bass for “Rainy Day Dream Away” it was a great night and I was proud to pay tribute to Hendrix on his birthday in one of my favorite venues in the world.”
