READING FESTIVAL 2011 Set for Aug 26-28, 2011
The Reading Festival is an annual music festival held at Little John’s Farm in Reading, United Kingdom. Started in 1961, it is the longest-running music festival in the world. The festival moved locations throughout the 1960s before making Reading its permanent home in 1971. The location can accommodate 80,000 people. In the past, the musical line-up consisted of heavy metal, progressive rock, and blues acts. Over the years, the festival grew to include Indie artists. Several stages are set up at the three-day festival, where different musical groups and acts perform.
A popular tradition at the Reading Festival is to “bottle” acts offstage. The audience oftentimes will force unpopular bands off the stage by throwing cans and plastic bottles at them.
The popularity of the Reading Festival has grown exponentially over the years. In 1999, another location in Leeds opened due to increased demand at the Reading location. The festival has become well known for selling out very quickly. In the last five years, tickets to the event have sold out within a few hours.
The Reading Festival will take place August 26-28, 2011. Tickets will go on sale Monday, March 21st, at 7:15 p.m.
