TRIVIUM To Return to UK and ‘In Waves’ To Be Released in August
Trivium will tour the UK for a seven-date tour in December. The Florida metal heavyweights will start the tour at Southampton Guildhall on 1st December and finish at Plymouth Pavillions on 8th December.
The band will tour with their new drummer Nick Augusto who used to be the band’s drum tech before he replaced former drummer Travis Smith, who was fired by frontman Matt Heafy in 2010.
According to Heafy if Travis Smith had not left the band, they would have split up: “…. but if the old line-up had continued the band wouldn’t be around any more. The chemistry wasn’t there.” Guitarist Corey Beaulieu explained the tension in the band in more detail: “If we’d gone in to start working on this record, either absolutely nothing would have happened or it would have been a yelling, screaming match with fights. There would have been a lot of walking on eggshells then something would have happened.”
Trivium’s new album ‘In Waves’ will be released on August 8th (UK). The follow up to 2008’s ‘Shogun’ was recorded in the band’s native Orlando, Florida and produced by Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, Bullet For My Valentine).
The band insist that the new album will tie into a unifying theme that will be present on their future output such as music videos and live shows, with Heafy saying: “‘In Waves’ to us… is Trivium. ‘In Waves’ is the music, the artwork, the videos and the live show; they are all part of an interconnected whole. There’s no question about it, in our eyes, that this is the most complete project we’ve ever done. We think we’ve finally made the record that we’ve always strived to make.”
