Metal Blade Records News & Tour Update
Detroit’s melodic death metal outfit THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, who are currently headlining the Summer Slaughter Tour in support of their new album Ritual, will be back on the road this fall on a headline run that sees the band hitting cities not reached on their current tour. Support on the fall tour comes from Oakland, California’s All Shall Perish-currently on The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival – and Richmond, Virginia’s Cannabis Corpse.
Released on June 21 via Metal Blade Records, Ritual is a collection of 12 tracks that see the band staying true to their sound and style while progressing in both writing and musicianship. Guitarist Ryan Knight has delivered truly searing leads that will without a doubt daze and lay waste the ears of both loyal Black Dahlia diehards and burgeoning fans alike.

GOATWHORE has posted their first video update from the studio on MetalBlade.tv HERE. The video was shot and edited by the band and is the first in a series of videos that will chronicle the recording of the new album. The band is making quick progress and drums have already been completed.
Drummer Zack Simmons added the following: “Tracking for the new record went very smoothly with the help of excellent equipment. I played a Pearl Reference kit with Sabian AA cymbals. The drums sound like canons of doom. Every time I hear the toms I want to break something because they sound so damn good. The AA’s were a perfect match in their ability to cut through the thunder of the drums. This record is going to have a giant pair of balls hanging from it.”

Between holding Crack-a-Thon’s, having GWAR-B-Q’s, you might think that your Lords and Masters had forgotten about you…but you won’t get off that easy! GWAR is returning to personally slap the teeth out of your collective mouths, and have a great time while doing it!”
Just last week Rose Funeral launched the first single, Beyond the Entombed, from their forthcoming album Gates of Punishment. Now fans can preorder the album at metalblade.com/rosefuneral.
Gates of Punishment is a fitting progression of the band’s dark and foreboding sound. Guest vocal appearances from Kate Alexander and Steve Tucker (Morbid Angel) add to the dark atmosphere that is created throughout the album. Seven string guitars tuned to drop A, haunting melodies, insane blasts and enough groove to keep heads banging will make this one of the heaviest releases of 2011.
ANTERIOR will launch their third and final single “To Live Not Remain” from their upcoming second album ECHOES OF THE FALLEN exclusively on Thrashhits.com on Monday August 8, 2011. Check it out HERE.
Set for release in Europe on August 26, the UK August 29 and North America on September 13 via Metal Blade Records, the 10-track long player was recorded at Grindstone Studios through 2011 with Scott Atkins producing.
BEHEMOTH finishes video for “Lucifer”; photos available online
Behemoth and Grupa 13’s latest creative vision will be for the song, Lucifer. The song is the final track on Evangelion and clocks in at over eight minutes long and is one of the most atmospheric and foreboding songs in Behemoth’s vast catalogue. The video was shot in Wroclaw, Poland and stars the song’s guest vocalist, Maciej Malenczuk. The video is currently being edited and will see a worldwide premiere in September. Behemoth set the bar high with their last video, which was also a Grupa 13 collaboration, Alas, Lord is Upon Me.
Behemoth front man, Nergal, comments: “We have teamed up with Grupa 13 again to shoot this amazing video…I must honestly say it was very refreshing cooperation. Darek is probably one of the most creative people I’ve met in this business and I love working with him. Every time we force ourselves to come up with even crazier ideas…This time we really made it very artistic and… still VERY disturbing. There’s plenty of metaphors and symbolism in this video…the story is even more diverse, fucked up and out of control. I’m still digesting it… the video is being edited as we write these words…Stay tuned!”
IN SOLITUDE joins DOWN for September US tour!
DOWN officially announces a September jam with the fans in the cities they missed during their spring 2011 tour. The NOLA super group goes over, under and across America in an effort to execute an intimate night of shared hard rocking, metallic celebration!
Hand-picked by the brotherhood to be taken under their burned black wings will be Swedish occult metallers IN SOLITUDE (Metal Blade), and southern psychedelic prog-rockers PONYKILLER (Housecore).
IN SOLITUDE has been declared as “one of the hottest new metal acts around” by Decibel Magazine while Metal Hammer described the band as “Structurally and melodically complex, densely layered yet dynamic and fluid, often enthralling, always engaging, this is a metallic Feast.” The band’s Metal Blade debut, The World. The Flesh. The Devil was released on May 24th and stands as a “trad-metal charge of Iron Maiden with doom metal’s ironclad grey” according to Kerrang! Magazine. Additionally, Terrorizer heralded The World. The Flesh. The Devil as their “album of the month” in issue #210. If you haven’t yet heard IN SOLITUDE, you can listen and order now HERE.
Not content with staging the coolest party in history (the GWAR-B-Q), or playing on the most awesome tour of the fall (The Return of the World Maggot Tour), GWAR and Slave Pit Inc. have announced the return of last year’s most ridiculous event, The Crack-a-Thon, and have posted an online teaser of their Kickstarter-funded animation project, “The Blood Vomits”.
Last year’s Crack-a-Thon was an attempt by GWAR lead singer Oderus Urungus to raise funds for his humungous drug-habit, and raise awareness for GWAR’s fledgling internet TV station, GWAR.tv. Despite a slew of celebrity guests, including Andrew W.K., both efforts proved to be a “miserable failure”, with Urungus actually smoking the money, and GWAR.tv disappearing from the internet after the webmaster was “eaten by a crack-crazed penguin”. Never one to be daunted by his repeated failures, Urungus is back with an entirely new schtick.
