In many ways, the time leading up to the release of Slipknot’s epic sophomore album, Iowa, was quite dark: tensions within the band were running high as they aimed to craft an album that could not only live up to, but ultimately surpass the spitfire intensity of their breakout eponymous 1999 debut. The resulting tracks recorded during those studio sessions however, were pure bliss; they would ultimately lead to the Midwest band becoming one of the most celebrated acts of the nu-metal movement. And now, 10 years later, Slipknot revisits this defining LP with an incredible deluxe reissue.
On November 1, Slipknot will drop a special 10th-anniversary edition of Iowa. And there’s lots to look forward to: not only will you get the original Iowa tracks, along with a remix of “My Plague” as a bonus, but you’ll also get an entire additional disc of tracks from the monumental Disasterpieces DVD recorded during their 2002 concert at the London Arena. And as if that wasn’t reason enough to get psyched for this release, the DVD also includes Goat, a film directed by band member M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, who also contributed special photography as part of the album’s brand new artwork.
