GWAR: The Show Must Go On

Here is a photo of Smoot's final performance at Minneapolis's rock club First Avenue from Wednesday night.

GWAR decided to go ahead and do something which must have been incredibly difficult.  They have decided that they will go ahead and play a show at the Edmonton Event Centre.

Cory Smoot was found dead as the U.S. band was about to enter Canada on Thursday morning, according to Gwar’s frontman.

“It is with a sense of profound loss and tragedy that the members of GWAR must announce the passing of their long time guitarist and beloved friend Cory Smoot, also known to thousands of metal fans worldwide as Flattus Maximus,” David Brockie wrote in a statement for

“Cory was found deceased this morning as the band prepared for a border crossing. There is no word as to the cause of death and the members of Gwar are completely shocked and devastated that this has occurred.”
