Wow….Eddie Trunk must be pissin’ his britches right about now.

Deep Purple and Rush are among the finalists on this year’s ballot for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2013!!

Among the finalists are also Heart and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.

Ballots will be mailed out to more than 600 Rock Hall voters later this fall. The 28th annual Rock Hall induction ceremony takes place for the second time in Los Angeles, on April 18th, 2013 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. HBO will tape the show for broadcast at a later date.

Fans and fellow inductees have championed for both Deep Purple and Rush to be inducted, including Metallica’s James Hetfield, who promoted Deep Purple during the 2009 ceremony in Cleveland. Deep Purple frontman Ian Gillan said, “That’s very flattering that they care. We probably deserve it, but… we didn’t start making music thinking of honors and halls of fame, and we still don’t.”

Acts are eligible for the Rock Hall 25 years after the release of their first recording, album or single-1987 or before for this year’s nominees.
