MELECHESH: Comment on First US Appearance
Mesopotamian Metal Pioneers MELECHESH recently took a break from recording to make their first US appearance at this years installment of the Maryland Deathfest. Pictures of the bands performance can be viewed here.
“We have just returned from Maryland Deathfest in USA after spending a hectic but superb week there,” comment vocalist/guitarist Ashmedi. “It was a good and needed break from recording. As some of you know I used to live in USA and Moloch lives there so we felt quite at home, but we did not know what to expect from the show. I can proudly say the crowd response was amazing , they really made us feel welcome and at home. This kind of gave us the itch to come back for more. So to our US brethren, we will return and thank you for the great reception! What was exceptional as well was the fact that our first drummer Lord Curse who appeared on our debut back in the days we were in Jerusalem, and also Proscriptor were there on the side of the stage.”
MELECHESH recently entered the studio to record their 5th as of yet untitled album. In an unprecedented move in metal, the band chose to record the album in Istanbul in an attempt to capture the inspiring surroundings. Babajim Studios where the band is recording is run by some of the most elite sound engineers in Turkey. The album is set to be released in summer 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.
“We have been looking for a place to record that can offer us an inspiring surrounding. We also decided to stay true to our spirits, to break the Mold (again) and also to defy the norm, hence we will record in Istanbul; you see the norm is to record westwards it is rather customary, we want to head eastwards. So, Istanbul seemed the best place since This is the city where the east and west meet, mesh, clash, blend, collide etc. and has been as such for millenniums. The music is definitely MELECHESH and as always, this album has its own characteristic.”
