DarkC3ll Review by DJ Rookilla
In a world where the ‘Core’ genre of metal seem’s to be taking over the mainstream and everyone starts to sound the same, it is a breath of fresh air to get my hands on the new DARKC3LL album “Haunted Reality”

“Kingmaker” is PRETTY MAIDS’ highly anticipated follow up to 2013’s critically and commercially successful release “Motherland”, a record that continued the “revitalized” path that the band set out upon with the now classic album “Pandemonium”. “Kingmaker” is set for release November 4th via Frontiers Music srl.
Today the second video from the album for the title track “Kingmaker” has been released. Get a first look at the video HERE.
The video for “Face The World” can be seen HERE.

All digital pre-orders include instant downloads of “Face The World”, “Humanize Me”, “Heaven’s Little Devil”, and “Kingmaker”.
It’s always difficult to follow a successful and inspired record, but “Kingmaker” shows PRETTY MAIDS are still in the freshest and most vital phase of their career since the early 90’s.
The production is absolutely stellar thanks to Jacob Hansen (Volbeat), who has given the band a sound that not only reinvigorates them, but also incorporates the soundscapes of the past. Modern and classic at the same time, if you will.
What can then be said about Ronnie Atkins and Ken Hammer? One of the best song writing teams in the genre, hands down. Atkins’ voice just gets better and better as the years go by. Menacing and vicious one minute, melodic and soothing the next. Likewise, Hammer is on fire here and lays down some of his heaviest riffs in recent memory.
Every track on this beauty is worthy of attention whether it is an in-your-face melting barn burner such as the one-two starters “When God Took A Day Off” / “King Maker”, “Bullseye”, and “Humanize Me” or timeless melodic metal anthems such as “Face the World” and “Heaven’s Little Devil” or even a superb power ballad like “Last Beauty on Earth”. This record has everything PRETTY MAIDS could possibly ask for!
Don’t miss them when they play live in a city near you – you’ll be blown away by the explosion of Danish dynamite!

CrazyIvan choose to review Opeth’s latest CD: Sorceress. The album is full of progressive rock tracks and a few of them having a heavy sound like earlier Opeth CDs. The bulk of the tracks are softer then normal metalheads are used to when it comes to Opeth. The two tracks that have a strong presence are “Chrysalis” and “Era”. Even without the growling vocals, they still are good hard tracks. They kind of make up the softness of the rest of the album. 9 of the 11 tracks are more progressive rock tracks then metal. One of the softer tracks that stand out is “Will O The Wisp”. It has a well balanced sound instead of a lack of the normal predominance of most of the tracks on the CD. This album would be a good buy for those who are more into progressive rock CDs then a metal CD.
The album rating by CrazyIvan is a 4 out of 5 stars. I would have given the album a 3 out of 5 except for the two harder tracks.

Charred Walls Of The Damned – the brainchild of former Death/Iced Earth drummer Richard Christy – will release their third full-length, Creatures Watching Over The Dead, on September 23rd via Metal Blade Records. In addition to Richard’s storied career as a drummer, he has been a staple on The Howard Stern Show for his diaper wearing and crank calling antics. Today both of his worlds come together as the Charred Walls of the Damned album Creatures Watching Over The Dead is available as an exclusive album stream in advance of the release on HowardStern.com. Check out the new album in its entirety HERE.
A drum play-through for the track, “My Eyes”, can be viewed below:
Creatures Watching Over The Dead, is available for pre-order in various formats at: metalblade.com/cwotd. With five years having elapsed since the quartet dropped Cold Winds On Timeless Days, it’s understandable that fans have been yearning for more, but Charred Walls Of The Damned has not exactly been sitting around, kicking their heels. Christy – who has previously played with Iced Earth, Death, Control Denied, Burning Inside and Leash Law – played drums on Monte Pittman‘s Inverted Grasp Of Balance, wrote music for New York State’s “The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze” event, and co-wrote a heavy metal comedy Viking rock opera with guitarist Jason Suecof and Titmouse Animation, titled “Majestic Loincloth”. Suecof is of course one of the most in demand producers in contemporary metal. Then there’s legendary bassist Steve DiGiorgio, who made a name for himself in the ranks of Death, Testament, Vintersorg, Dragonlord and a myriad of other great metal bands; in recent years, he has laid down his inimitable style on records from Ephel Duath, Soen, Memorain and others. Which just leaves vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens, who for a time fronted Judas Priest, before lending his formidable pipes to Iced Earth and Yngwie Malmsteen‘s mighty compositions, touring relentlessly under his own name, and starting a new band (Project Rock). When it was time to lay the songs down, Charred Walls Of The Damned convened at Suecof’s Audiohammer Studio, outside Orlando, FL. The nine resulting tracks are heavy, catchy, anthemic and downright killer music to wreck your neck to. See below for the official track-listing!
