DJ RooKilla’s Favorite 4 From 2019

Local Brisbane band “MEDICS OF PAIN” released their debut album “LETS BANG” early 2019. Production is second to none, handled by Chris Ross of Pulpitation Studios. 10 tracks at just over 40mins, a good solid album. What would I class their genre, mmmm, Metal, Heavy F@#king Metal with deathly growls, but listenable vocals. To me, Deans vocals are quite in line with Jeff Walker of Carcass. Musicly the album is heavy as hell, big chunky grooves to bang your head too My stand out picks, the title track ‘LETS BANG’, ‘MATRON  OF HATE’, ‘IN THE GLISTENING RED’ & ‘TO CONQUER’ Don’t take my word for it, hit the link below and check ’em out for yourself.

Sydney band LORD released their 5th album “FALLEN IDOLS” Honestly, it has everything on this album. It has the power metal sound that LORD has shaped, but there is thrash moments even bordering on death metal at points.Lord Tim’s vocals swing back and forth as well, hitting those high notes but also bringing some deathly growls to the plate as well.
The title track “FALLEN IDOLS” kicks ass, as does “NOD TO THE OLD SCHOOL” & “KILL OR BE KILLED” BUT, I can’t pick a fav. tune, I just play from start to finish each time. These guys just get better and better with each album, so check out LORD “FALLEN IDOLS”

Exhorder, Mourn The Southern Skies.
Now, at this point I had never heard of Exhorder. I was talking with Jason Viebrooks about a project he was working on and he said I should check out Exhorder. Never heard of them I said, he then asked if I liked Pantera….
F@#K no was my reply. Jason: Dude, check out some Exhorder, read up on them. That was it, I now had to find out who these guys were…. well, they have done nothing for over 20 years, and no sooner had i said that, It’s all over the interwebs…… EXHORDER IS BACK. and they are right, these guys are back with vengence, one listen to this album and you will wonder “WHY has it taken so long?”
Fast, heavy, brutal, groove, it has it all. 10 tracks just under an hour. This album will sit proud in any metal heads collection, go check out “MOURN THE SOUTHERN SKIES” you will not be disapointed.

Late in the year, Aussie boys MESHIAAK are back with “MASK OF ALL MISERY” it is so hard to believe that at this point these guys had never even played a show live, the follow up to 2016 ‘Alliance Of Thieves’ shows these guys are ready to play with the big guns. Where their debut album was in my opinion, perfection, “MASK” is in your face agression mixed into a progresive thrash metal attack!! Dan’s ferocius vocals highlight the entire album, even the ballad sounds angry!!
Openning with the instrumental ‘Miasma’ the mood quickly changes with the title track “MASK OF ALL MISERY” “CITY OF GHOSTS” “TEARS THAT BURN THE SON” then the balladish tune “DOVES” Im just overwhelmed by the whole album. The production is handled by guitarist Dean Wells (Teramaze, Meshiaak) 10 tracks just under an hour, this album sits up there with anything the big 4 can throw at you, get on it, your gonna love MESHIAAK!!!!

LAMB OF GOD Releases First New Music in Five Years, “Checkmate,”

from Upcoming Self-Titled Album, Due Out May 8
Watch the Video for “Checkmate” Now via lamb-of-god.com
Pre-Order Lamb Of God at http://lambofgod.lnk.to/LOG
LAMB OF GOD has revealed a brand new single and video, “Checkmate,” from the band’s first release in five years and the first to feature new drummer Art Cruz. The self-titled Lamb Of God is due out May 8 via Epic Records.
Watch “Checkmate” now at: http://lamb-of-god.com.
“‘Checkmate’ brings together all the components of the LAMB OF GOD sound that we’ve been developing over the last two decades, but with the ambition and ferocity that comes with the start of a new chapter for our band,” says guitarist Mark Morton. “Re-energized and reignited, this is LAMB OF GOD 2020. We’ve never been more excited.”
The fact that the band’s eighth studio effort would warrant ‘self-titled’ status is a testament to the band’s pride and satisfaction with these songs and this period in their creativity.
“Putting only our name on it is a statement,” Blythe says. “This is LAMB OF GOD. Here and now.”
A true collaboration between all members of the band, LAMB OF GOD’s eighth studio album is an amalgam of each individual’s contributions, blended to create a singular style. Guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler fuel the album with a mountain of riffs, taking what Lamb of God are known for, and unbelievably, upping the ante to new levels. The rhythm section of John Campbell, looming large as a rhythmic shadow, and drummer Art Cruz, who makes his studio debut with LAMB OF GOD here on this record, underpin the proceedings with passion, sweat and expansive dynamics. Vocalist D. Randall Blythe is as angry, insightful, and informed as ever. Never one to shrink from facing the darker aspects of our nature head-on, Blythe delivers with no punches pulled, and as only he and Lamb of God can in 2020.
In celebration of the release of “Checkmate” and the announce of the new album, LAMB OF GOD will appear at a special show at the House of Vans in Chicago on February 14. The event is free and fans can RSVP beginning at 12 noon CST today at HouseOfVans.com The event will include a photography exhibit featuring photos from D. Randall Blythe that will be included in the new LAMB OF GOD album artwork. Harm’s Way will open the show.
In the midst of writing the ten songs that appear on Lamb Of God, the group hit pause on the works-in-progress to man the stage as main support Slayer’s “The Final Campaign.” After months of playing their best-known songs nightly, LAMB OF GOD returned to the new tracks and began to work with longtime producer Josh Wilbur (Korn, Megadeth, Gojira, Trivium). Special guests Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) and Chuck Billy (Testament) also make appearances on Lamb Of God.

The Richmond, Virginia, quintet propelled heavy metal into the new millennium two decades ago with the prophetically titled New American Gospel. They followed with 2003’s As the Palaces Burn, which made the Rolling Stone list of the Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. Ashes of the Wake, released in 2004, was the first LAMB OF GOLD album to be certified gold by the RIAA, as was 2006’s Sacrament, which also made a Top 10 Billboard 200 chart debut. In 2009, LAMB OF GOD released Wrath, their first with Wilbur at producer, and earned the number one album spot on Billboard’s Hard Rock, Rock, and Tastemaker charts, with a number two position on the Billboard 200.
Those number one positions were repeated with 2012’s Resolution, which swung effortlessly between thrash, traditional metal, sludgy doom, with flashes of crust punk swagger and bravado. LAMB OF GOD’s last album, VII: Sturm und Drang (2015) made its debut on the Billboard 200 at number three and finished number 2 in the world charts, reaching Top 5 in five countries and six addition Top 15 positions.
In 2020, LAMB OF GOD is re-energized and unrelenting, ready to lay claim to the metal throne.

CREMATORY remains Unbroken – a somber ode to transience, love and pain
Prepare for an electrifying synergy of industrial harshness and dimness: German pioneers of European gothic metal, CREMATORY, have released their new single, “Unbroken”, off of their upcoming eponymous album, to be released via Napalm Records on March 6, 2020.
Along with a flashing and energetic music video, the monarchs of the night enter their manifestation of autonomy with the second single and title track “Unbroken”, featuring Robse of the German power metal band EQUILIBRIUM. The track impressively represents the quintessence of their upcoming album – the unmistakable, honest message is to stand up for yourself and fight all demons, no matter what your life throws at you.

CREMATORY remain themselves and draw in new listeners with their renowned brutality and expressive strength. Robse’s forceful and raspy growls mixed with Felix Stass’ remarkable voice underline this proper blackness in an industrial guise. The standout track proves that CREMATORY is still at the top of the scene and highlights the bold message: Unbroken – we still keep on fighting.

CREMATORY on the new single:
““Unbroken” is a tribute and a thanks to our loyal fans, who have been supporting and encouraging us for over 29 years. Playing in a band is like being in a relationship – there will always be ups and downs and you have to solve all that to become stronger than ever!”

Watch “Unbroken” HERE:

With Unbroken, the German pioneers of gothic metal present 15 energetic tracks boasting brutal riffs, deep growls and tight drum grooves – proving their diversity even after almost 30 years in the business. The time has arrived for legendary bay area thrash metal giants TESTAMENT to unleash new thunder to the masses and reveal their thirteenth studio album, Titans Of Creation, which will be released on April 3 via Nuclear Blast.
Today, the band releases the lyric video for the first single, “Night Of The Witch” here: youtu.be/cF2hIrXq2ss
Chuck Billy comments, “It has been months since the final mixing of ‘Titans Of Creation’ and we are eager for fans to hear it. We feel that we put a lot into this record and at the end of the day it is a TESTAMENT record that stands on its own. We are very proud of ‘Titans Of Creation.’”
“’Night Of The Witch’ uses old school lyrics about witches chanting in the moonlight and casting spells. The beauty of this song is that I worked Eric’s vocals into the chorus. Titans Of Creation was produced by Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson while Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios handled co-producing, recording and engineering. Andy Sneap was responsible for the mixing and mastering of the album. Eliran Kantor stepped up once again to create a new masterpiece of artwork for the cover of this release.

Nearly Sold Out EU-Tour Kicks Off on November 9

“A cocktail of modern prog metal, ‘Macro’ is the album where Jinjer show us what the future of heaviness sounds like.” Loudwire
JINJER just released their newest modern metal milestone, Macro, on Friday, and there’s no stopping them now – their gripping third official video for the track “Pit Of Consciousness” is out today. The video, presented in full black and white, emphasizes the inner dissension pictured as the narrators “Pit of Consciousness” – lifted musically by a demanding rhythm between punishing riffs, Eugene’s distinctive base lines and Vlad’s intense drumming. Together with Tatiana’s impressive voice, the song pushes the genre to the next level..
“I keep on losing the keys from reality
And now I’m passing on the wheel to insanity”
Eugene on “Pit Of Consciousness”:“This is a song that can be applied to each of us in the band. Living a life at a full pace after years of touring, have we accidentally let someone else into our heads and become foreigners to ourselves? Holding on to the hope that we can keep those doors shut …”

Order Macro NOW!
While January 2019’s Micro EP proved to be a short exercise in madness and technical brilliance, fans still aren’t prepared for what JINJER has in store with the absolutely unbridled Macro. Defying all boundaries, the aptly titled opening track, “On the Top”, features the band`s eclectic trademarks and obeys one law only – their own. Frontwoman Tatiana Shmayluk defines the unique character of the Ukrainian act with menacing whispers, enthralling clean vocals and brutal growls whilst lethally groovy riff cascades melt into twisted songwriting. There is space for a microscopic bit of reggae “Judgement (& Punishment)” in all the heaviness, the double bass is beautifully out of control on “Pausing Death”, and technically superior tracks like “Home Back” defy gravity.

JINJER says about Macro:
“Going from small things to bigger ones is the natural order of things, and we’ve paved a path from Micro to Macro, carrying the weight of feelings, emotions and experience. This is a monumental point in the story of JINJER, the quintessence of what makes us what we are now as the people and as a band. We are proud of every single note sung and played on Macro and can’t wait for you to give it a listen!”

The album is now playing in its entirety at The Obelisk, who commented “With fervent crash and lumber, V‘s songs work in linear fashion to squeeze the air from your lungs as only their kind of rhythmic churn can, crafting a tension that’s affecting in mood and ambiance.

Listen to “Led Into Exile” here.

The follow-up the band’s 2017 debut album “Pathogenisis” is scheduled for release on September 13th via Suicide Records and offers a conceptual journey around a story dealing with the definitive departure from civilization into the wild Finnmark in Dalecarlia Sweden, describing a loss and a strong will to become isolated from an insane world on the brink of destruction. JINJER Release Official Video and New Single
“Judgement (& Punishment)”!

New Single Available on All Streaming Platforms Now!

A cocktail of modern prog metal, ‘Macro’ is the album where Jinjer show us what the future of heaviness sounds like” – Loudwire
The wait is over! Following up on the release of their most recent full-length album, 2016’s King of Everything, and this year’s Micro EP, Ukrainian modern metal frontrunners JINJER return with their game-changing new album, Macro. The album is set to be released via Napalm Records on October 25, 2019. Punishing riffs, aggressively blended vocals and astonishingly deep lyrics make Macro their most advanced and undeniable album yet – taking the listener on a journey of trauma, power struggle and greed with a progressive groove metal backdrop.
JINJER on Macro:
“Going from small things to bigger ones is the natural order of things, and we’ve paved a path from “Micro” to “Macro”, carrying the weight of feelings, emotions and experience. This is a monumental point in the story of JINJER, the quintessence of what makes us what we are now as the people and as a band. We are proud of every single note sung and played on “Macro” and can’t wait for you to give it a listen!”
In addition to announcing the release of their new album, JINJER have released a new single and official video, entitled “Judgement (& Punishment)”. “How many times have we reacted harshly to something just because we simply do not understand it? It seems like there is an innate human trait in all of us, when there is something unknown or unfamiliar that we tend to question the substance, to attack and finally to destroy it … just like primitive apes. But when it strikes back it might be too much to bare. Every action causes a reaction. Judgement (& Punishment) is a reaction. Just keep that in mind.”

While January 2019’s Micro EP proved to be a short exercise in madness and technical brilliance, fans still aren’t prepared for what JINJER has in store with the absolutely unbridled Macro. Defying all boundaries, the aptly titled opening track, ‘On The Top‘, features the band`s eclectic trademarks and obeys one law only – their own. Frontwoman Tatiana Shmaylyuk defines the unique character of the Ukrainian act with menacing whispers, enthralling clean vocals and brutal growls whilst lethally groovy riff cascades melt into twisted songwriting. There is space for a microscopic bit of reggae “Judgement (& Punishment)” in all the heaviness, the double bass is beautifully out of control on ‘Pausing Death’, and technically superior tracks like ‘Home Back’ defy gravity.
