HALCYON WAY sign record deal with Agonia Records

HALCYON WAY, an American metal band from Atlanta, GA, has signed a worldwide record deal with Agonia Records. Fresh off a month-long European tour with Angra & Geoff Tate’s Operation: Mindcrime, the band is expected to release a new studio album – successor to Billboard-charting “Conquer” from 2014 – in August.
HALCYON WAY is the ultimate example of blue-collar work ethic, self-reliant bootstrapping, and hard work & perseverance in spite of nearly insurmountable odds. This award winning band has released four studio albums worldwide through Nightmare Records/Sony RED, and most recently via Massacre Records, and has performed on 4 continents (and about 20 countries and counting), extensively touring with the likes of Saxon, Sabaton, Queensryche, Fates Warning, Fozzy, Skid Row, U.D.O. and Delain.

HALCYON WAY‘s sound cannot be neatly slotted into any sub-category of metal. It can be described as heavy, catchy, technical, progressive and above all, focused on strong songcraft. The band draws influences & inspiration from many metal bands, from Megadeth to Dream Theater, to Testament and Chimaira. With a magnitude of catchy hooks, vocal harmonies a la King’s X or Stryper, and heavy, technical, yet ultimately accessible instrumentation, HALCYON WAY is ready to begin a new chapter with their forthcoming studio album.

“We’re really stoked to be announcing our partnership with Agonia Records” – comments the band. “Their commitment to working our new record alongside us is strong and we can’t wait to open this new chapter in our career. We just got back from a fantastic tour with our friends in Angra and Operation:Mindcrime, and we had the opportunity to test out some of the new songs. The crowds went ape over them so we can’t wait to get the new record in everyone’s hands so we can get out there and support it some more!”.

HALCYON WAY‘s last album, “Conquer” (2014), hit the Billboard Heatseekers Chart at #41 for week of release sales. It was named “Record Of The Week” on the Revolver Magazine website, and the lead single Web Of Lies” spent more than 6 weeks on the USA CMJ metal radio charts. More news on the follow-up to “Conquer” will be announced soon.

Jon Bodan – lead guitars, backing vocals, programming
Max Eve – rhythm guitars
Skyler Moore – bass, backing vocals

“With the title track of our new album we present you one of the most fast forward and brutal compositions “Diluvium” has to offer. The music video created by German Cinematographer Mirko Witzki shows the first part of a connected story relating to the band’s long running four album cycle.”
Additionally, OBSCURA will perform at select European festivals this summer including Vienna Metal Meeting, Amsterdam Metal Meeting and Summer Breeze Open Air. Stay tuned for more tour dates in the near future.
OBSCURA’s fifth studio album Diluvium is due out July 13th on CD/LP/Digital via Relapse Records. Physical packages are available via Relapse.com HERE and Digital Downloads / Streaming Services AT THIS LOCATION.

Founded in 2002 by guitarist/vocalist Steffen Kummerer, German progressive death metal band OBSCURA caused a stir when they – out of nowhere – toured as support for the legendary Suffocation on the band’s European tour in 2006 and independently released their debut album
Retribution that same year. From its very beginnings, the band (named after Gorguts’ inimitable 1993 full-length) demonstrated an uncanny ability for blending different forms of technical, cerebral metal into a coherent synthesis of death, thrash and black metal merged with progressive elements.
In 2009, after being acquired by Relapse Records, the band released Cosmogenesis, a marvel of technical and progressive metal that firmly established OBSCURA as one of modern extreme metal’s leading lights. Not one to bend to convention, OBSCURA distinguished themselves and their unique brand of music via the tasteful use of vocal effects, fretless bass, philosophical underpinnings, and other elements rarely touched on in extreme metal.
In addition to cracking the US Billboard charts, the release of Cosmogenesis saw OBSCURA embark on their first worldwide tour, which included visits to North America, Europe, and Japan. Cosmogenesis was followed in 2011 by Omnivium, which was lauded by Decibel, Terrorizer, Metal Injection, and dozens of others as a landmark achievement in technical music. That album entered the US and German charts while enabling the band to conduct another run of extensive touring across the globe. Five years since the release of the universally-acclaimed Omnivium, the progressive metal masters returned with their strongest and most dynamic release to date. The aptly-named Akróasis (Greek for “hearing” or “listening”) draws on all the various elements of OBSCURA‘s signature sound and combines those qualities into a cohesive and mind-blowing whole.
The band embarked on multiple world tours with such renowned artists as Cannibal Corpse, Death To All, Children of Bodom and countless others including numerous festival appearances at Hellfest, Graspop Metal Meeting and many others.
Now in 2018, OBSCURA complete their long-running, four-album conceptual circle with the release of Diluvium(defined as a great oceanic flood), their most evocative, diverse and vibrant release to date. Recorded with longtime producer V. Santura (Triptykon, Pestilence) at Woodshed Studios in Landshut, Germany, Diluvium is a stunning achievement for the illustrious quartet and a landmark release for progressive metal as a whole. Complete with all the band’s signature elements plus groundbreaking polyrhythms, dramatic songwriting, and jaw-dropping virtuosity, OBSCURA raise the bar once again with an album that will go down in the annals of metal history as one of the most astonishing performances the genre has to offer.

DUST BOLT released their third album Mass Confusion

in July 2016 via Napalm Records.  (Order Here)
It’s only been seven years since Southern Germans DUST BOLT won the W:O:A Metal Battle 2011 – six years the band has used to transform themselves from hot newcomers into national thrash heroes with their debut Violent Demolition! These Bay Area aficionados dropped their third full length Mass Confusion in July 2016. Relentless touring plus constant fine-tuning of the typical DUST BOLT sound have finally paid off: the old school songwriting is focused and free of ballast weight, yet despite all the rage and aggression there is still plenty of breathing space for melodic guitar work, gang shouts and ten-ton grooves.

Formed in Santa Barbara, California the mid-90s, MOTOGRATER honed its creative industrial/tribal sounds and samples through playing and recording, and signed with Sever Records, founded by Dez Fafara of Coal Chamber and DevilDriver. MOTOGRATER evolved further thanks to dark, groove-oriented guitars, and in 2003, the band inked a deal with No Name/Elektra Records, and put out its self-titled major-label debut to critical and fan acclaim.
2003’s acclaimed Motograter (Elektra Records) album launched a fiercely unique heavy rock band that was a breed apart from the nu metal masses, thanks to tribal body paint and the Motograter itself-a hand-made instrument created from industrial cable and guitar pieces that creates a singular bass sound. The 2003/4 radio singles “Down,” “Suffocate” and “No Name” put the band-then fronted by Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch)–on the map. “Suffocate” landed in the film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre; “Down” cracked the Top 3 Billboard Mainstream charts; and Motograter toured on Ozzfest 2003, as well as sharing stages with Korn, Marilyn Manson, Cradle of Filth, and many more.
After going on hiatus in 2005. They reformed in 2008 with a new lineup, putting out the Pre-Release EP in 2009, while their The Damned Holiday Tour thrilled old fans and made new ones. After touring and performing for the next few years with artists such as Pop Evil, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Danzig, Anthrax, and more, MOTOGRATER discovered North Carolina native James Anthony Legion in 2015, and in early 2016, began recording their latest album, Desolation.

Performing on the album is guitarist Nylock, handling guitar, bass, drums, Piano Keyboards, and Orchestral Arrangements.  Vocals were performed by Drogoth, with additional guitar by Neal Tiemann.
Guitarist Nylock had this to say about the writing process:
“I wanted to do something different. I wasn’t concerned with genre or subculture. I just wanted to write for the piece and let it flow from the darkness, untapped and unfiltered. Just the metal that I wanted to create, nothing more.”

LAMB OF GOD Reveals BURN THE PRIEST Cover of Big Black’s “Kerosene”

LAMB OF GOD Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of BURN THE PRIEST with Release of New Covers Album, Legion: XX, in Stores May 18, 2018 via Epic Records
Featuring Covers of Classics by Cro-Mags, Bad Brains, Big Black, Ministry, Melvins, Quicksand and More
Legion: XX Album Art
RIAA-certified, Billboard chart-topping, five-time Grammy nominated Richmond, VA band LAMB OF GOD recently announced the release of their highly-anticipated full-length covers album as BURN THE PRIESTLegion: XX – a collection of songs reflecting the greatness of the classic punk, hardcore, crossover and noise artists that influenced them in their formative years, executed with their signature modern sound.
Legion: XX features tracks originally performed by Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, Quicksand, Ministry, Bad Brains, Melvins, S.O.D., the Accused, Big Black, and Richmond punk band Sliang Laos. Produced with Josh Wilbur at the helm, Legion: XX exhibits BURN THE PRIEST in their true element.
Following up on the surprise release of their cover of the Accused‘s “Inherit The Earth” last month, the band is releasing another blistering track from Legion: XX – a charging cover of Big Black‘s “Kerosene”. Listen now via http://burn-the-priest.com.
Big Black is a very important band to me,” says vocalist Randy Blythe. “When I was 12 and first listening to punk rock, I thought all punk came from England – but then through skating, I got into Black Flag and Bad Brains. I soon discovered this super-smart American punk rock – very caustic, and deeply sardonic about the murky side of the human experience. That got me into Steve Albini’s future bands Shellac and Rapeman – and all the noisy smart punk rock on labels like AmRep and Touch & Go. ‘Kerosene’ was one of their biggest songs, if they even had one. It speaks to small-town boredom.”
Legion: XX will be released on May 18, 2018 via Epic Records in celebration of BURN THE PRIEST‘s upcoming 20th anniversary. Pre-orders and merch bundles are available now via http://burn-the-priest.com and fans can stream “Inherit The Earth” and “Kerosene” here: http://btp.lnk.to/legionxx. On street date, a 7″ vinyl version of “Inherit the Earth” featuring a B-side of “In the Meantime” (originally performed by Helmet), will also be available.
LAMB OF GOD may be one of the biggest bands in modern metal, but they will never forget where they came from. Mark Morton (guitar), John Campbell (bass), and Chris Adler (drums) formed the first incarnation of the band, BURN THE PRIEST, in the winter of 1994 after meeting four years earlier as students at Virginia Commonwealth University. Less than a year later, in the summer of 1995, they met vocalist Randy Blythe before adding Chris Adler’s brother, Willie Adler (guitar), prior to transitioning to LAMB OF GOD – and the rest is global metal history.
The tracks on Legion: XX are performed with the unmistakable precision that has kept LAMB OF GOD vital for two decades, but ultimately harks back to the raw, punk-driven sound first explored by four unsuspecting college students and a line cook-turned-vocalist in their beginnings as heavy music giants.
Legion: XX track listing:
1. Inherit The Earth (originally performed by The Accused)
2. Honey Bucket (originally performed by Melvins)
3. Kerosene (originally performed by Big Black)
4. Kill Yourself (originally performed by S.O.D.)
5. I Against I (originally performed by Bad Brains)
6. Axis Rot (originally performed by Sliang Laos)
7. Jesus Built My Hotrod (originally performed by Ministry)
8. One Voice (originally performed by Agnostic Front)
9. Dine Alone (originally performed by Quicksand)
10. We Gotta Know (originally performed by Cro-Mags)

A lyric video for “Losing My Humanity” is streaming  HERE.
On April 27th another mark in history will be checked off for the band; the release of the second part, Prevail II.  It comes as no surprise that Prevail is reminiscent of some of the material on High Priestess thanks to Kobra and Jasio’s partnership, but in truth, this massive body of work attests to Kobra And The Lotus’ massive growth as songwriters and musicians since 2015. On paper it sounds like lip service to say the band has become heavier, more dynamic and adventurous, but your ears don’t lie.
Bottom line… Kobra And The Lotus remain fearless as they move forward with Prevail II, and with good reason. It is a rock n roll feast!
